Orphanage initiative & Free Education

Program Background/ Introduction: The Isaac Balami Foundation (IBF) Orphanage Initiative & Free Education Program is a flagship intervention designed to provide holistic care, curriculum and instruction based cognitive psychomotor learning opportunities, and empowerment for vulnerable children. Rooted in the belief that every child deserves dignity, education, and hope, the initiative combines shelter, psychosocial support, and tuition‑free schooling to break cycles of poverty and exclusion.

Program Objectives: Objectives of the program are threefold:

To ensure that orphans and vulnerable children have access to quality, inclusive education without financial barriers.

To provide safe housing, nutrition, and healthcare support that nurtures physical and emotional well‑being.

To build resilience and life skills through mentorship, vocational training, and community integration, preparing beneficiaries for productive futures. Target beneficiaries: Target beneficiaries include orphans, almajiri, abandoned and street children, and those from low‑income households who are at risk of dropping out of school due to financial hardship. Special attention is given to girls, children living with disabilities, and those affected by conflict or displacement, ensuring equity and inclusiveness and diversity. Lesson Learned: Lessons learned from implementation highlight the importance of community ownership and multi‑stakeholder collaboration. Engaging local leaders, schools, and health providers has strengthened sustainability and accountability. Another key lesson is the value of integrating psychosocial support with education; children thrive academically when their emotional needs are addressed. Additionally, digital tools for monitoring attendance and learning outcomes have improved efficiency and transparency, reinforcing donor confidence.

The initiative has demonstrated that free education, when paired with structured care and empowerment, not only transforms individual lives but also contributes to broader social stability restoring hope, where it was though once lost. By investing in orphans and vulnerable children, IBF is cultivating a generation equipped with knowledge, resilience, and hope — a foundation for long‑term community development, peacebuilding, and national progress.
