Elements of the Physical Learning Environment That Impact on Teaching and Learning in South African Grade 1 Classrooms

This study investigates how physical classroom factors like noise and large class sizes impact Grade 1 mathematics learning in South Africa from a cognitive load perspective. It finds that environmental stressors overload working memory and hinder foundational learning during the early school years.
